Youth Course (Junior Diver)
 

Ancient City Scuba is offering students a course specially designed for youth. It also caters to students who prefer in-person classes rather than independent study. We are offering students three options to achieve their certification so students may select a pace most suitable for themselves.  This course is offered as a 5 day, 5 week or 15 week course.

Our facility include classroom & onsite pool. Students in-water instruction will be conducted in our pool and nearby spring.  Upon completion of the course students will receive Open Water or Junior Open Water Certification depending on age.

Our Junior Open Water Diver course is similar to the adult certification program and prepares kids to become full-fledged divers when they are of age.  PADI® Open Water Diver is the first scuba certification level. A highly-trained PADI Instructor will teach students how to scuba dive in a relaxed, supportive learning environment. By the end of the course, you'll have the skills and knowledge required to dive safely.

Students will learn to: 

• Learn diving best practices 

• Assemble and use scuba gear

• Learn necessary skills to dive confidently

• Manage their buoyancy

• Safely observe marine life

 

 

Junior Open Water certification comes with restrictions. Divers 10-11 years old must dive with a dive instructor or parent or guardian, and dives cannot exceed 12 meters/40 feet. Divers 12-14 years old must dive with a certified adult and dives cannot exceed 18 meters / 60 feet. After receiving a junior open water certification, young divers 12 and older may continue to increase their experience and certification levels. Advanced certifications include Advanced Open Water, Junior Rescue Diver & Junior Master Scuba Diver.  After reaching the age of 15, Junior Divers can upgrade their Junior Open Water Diver card to an Open Water Diver card.  Also, their depth and buddy restrictions default to those of a regular Open Water Diver.

Five day certification cost: $549

Five week certification cost: $110 / week

Fifteen week certification cost: $37 / week

ANCIENT CITY SCUBA PROVIDES: Tanks, Wet Suit, Regulator w/ Dive Computer, & Buoyancy Compensator, 

STUDENT REQUIRED GEAR:  Scuba Mask, Snorkel, Boots, Open Heel Fins, Safety Marker Buoy & Weights.
